Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is set to stay past the summer transfer window.

Fernandes beat the record for the most Premier League assists in a season during the last campaign, claiming the Premier League Player of the Season prize and the Football Writers’ Footballer of the Year award, proving how essential he is to the Red Devils at 31 years old.

The Portuguese international has been the subject of transfer rumours for a number of years, as the media connect him with a move to the Saudi Pro League.

The United star was heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford last summer, amid reports of a lucrative Saudi Pro League offer on the table.

However, despite the playmaker having his pick of the clubs, journalist Ben Jacobs reports that he has decided to stay with the Premier League side past the summer transfer window.

Jacobs states that Fernandes has “already told teammates and those close to his circle that he intends to remain” and that he “decided in the end that the best football and family decision was to remain at Old Trafford” after Saudi clubs approached last summer.

Fernandes has established himself as a club legend after going on to make 327 appearances for the club, scoring 107 goals.

The news that he plans to stay will be music to the ears of United fans who will have been concerned that Fernandes may have his head turned by how lucrative the Saudi Pro League is.
