Relegated Burnley and West Ham will meet on the opening weekend of the Championship season on Sunday, 16th August as they aim to bounce back to the English top flight.
West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo has remained at the helm despite them dropping out of the Premier League after 14 seasons.
Nuno will already be planning what’s next for the club as they attempt to hold on to their best players during the summer transfer window.
However, before the season kicks off, Nuno has already suffered a huge blow as Soucek Soucek was carried away in a stretcher after sustaining an injury against Mexico this week.
The midfielder appeared to sustain a serious injury in the closing stages after challenging Guillermo Ochoa and landed awkwardly on his left knee which could rule him out for the start of the season.
It is not known the full extent of the 31-year-old’s injury but a serious knee injury could leave him out until Christmas in what is a major blow for the Hammers.
The Championship season begins a week after clubs play their first competitive fixture in the first round of the Carabao Cup and one week before the Premier League gets under way which gives Soucek extra time to recover from what could be a season ending injury as fans wait for updates.
