Mexico beat Czech Republic 3-0 to cap perfect group campaign but celebrations were ruined as a car destroyed fan celebrations.

Mexico swept past the Czech Republic 3-0 to close the group stage with a perfect nine points from nine as they cruised to the Round of 32.

Dozens of people had gathered in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur to celebrate the win as traffic was blocked off. 

As per The Sun, footage shows supporters gathering around a black car in the middle of the road and pressing up against the front bonnet and windows. 

This car then suddenly accelerated, ramming into crowds before attempting to drive off. The people in the car were arrested at the scene shortly after the incident as per Metro in what was a terrifying incident which left 17 injured. 

An investigation is underway

One person remains in a serious condition according to reports as the video circulated online. The Mexican Football Federation released a statement after the night of horrors. 

“The Mexican Football Federation deeply regrets the incident that occurred tonight in Los Cabos during the celebrations by fans of the Mexican National Team’s victory. 

“We express our solidarity with those affected and their families, and wish a speedy recovery to those who were injured. 

“We trust that the relevant authorities will clarify what happened and determine the corresponding responsibilities.” 

Alberto Rentería Santana, the General Secretary of Los Cabos, stated: "Coordination between security authorities is ongoing, and investigations into the incident are under way. 

"At this moment, our priority is to care for, support and stand by those who have been affected
