The Gunners are now second in the table after Manchester City beat Burnley on Wednesday night in a narrow 1-0 win that was enough to send them to the top of the league.

Arteta's men, however, can regain top spot with just a draw against Newcastle, but supporters will want a win to keep their title hopes alive against a ruthless City side managed by Pep Guardiola who certainly knows how to win the title.

Ahead of the game, Arteta will be happy to see that his side are almost injury free as only Mikel Merino (Ankle, foot) and Jurrien Timber (Groin, hip) are ruled out of the clash.

Arteta revealed that Riccardo Calafiori and Bukayo Saka are back and ready to face Newcastle if needed in his latest press conference in what was welcome news.

“No (issues). Bukayo is probably going to be in the squad. So good news. Riccardo (Calafiori) in the squad, Jurrien (Timber) not.

"Yeah we have given him some time, it was a moment where he was struggling to maintain the performances. He has some time for himself."

The Gunners are at risk of losing three straight top-flight games for the first time in four years and must find their form against Newcastle or risk blowing their title hopes completely
