Sean Longstaff could help persuade Nick Pope to join Leeds United from Newcastle United after making the switch himself last summer.

A new goalkeeper is one of Daniel Farke's priorities ahead of the transfer window. Karl Darlow has done brilliantly between the sticks, but the veteran is seen as more of a backup in the long-term.

Darlow established himself as number one in January after taking the jersey from Lucas Perri, the man who joined from Lyon for £14m last summer.

Perri has reportedly underwhelmed Farke with his performances since joining and could exit Elland Road alongside Illan Meslier, whose contract expires in June.

Two departures would leave Leeds short in the goalkeeper department, and SportBoom have revealed that the Whites are ready to swoop for Newcastle shot stopper Pope

The Magpies are targeting a new number one to replace the 34-year-old, presenting an opportunity for Leeds to land the Premier League-proven gloveman.

Pope has kept 45 clean sheets in 128 appearances since joining from Burnley in 2022, and if he does decide to leave St James' Park, Longstaff can help persuade him to move to West Yorkshire.

Longstaff has been solid following his move from Newcastle to Leeds in 2025 with four goal involvements in 22 top-flight appearances and he could potentially reunite with his former teammate.
