PFA Young Player of the Year winner and Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers has revealed what his plans are after such an achievement.

Rogers is the fifth Aston Villa representative to be named young player of the season, following in the footsteps of Andy Gray, Gary Shaw, Ashley Young and James Milner. The youngster picked up the award after Rogers picking up 12 goals and six assists in all competitions last season in what was an incredible year.

Notable Young Player of the Year winners from the past decade include Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Leroy Sané, Raheem Sterling, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Phil Foden, Bukayo Saka, and Cole Palmer. Rogers spoke after lifting the award and revealed that he wants to replicate their success and be remembered as an incredible player.

“It means a lot, especially coming from the players that voted, playing against them,” he said.

“For them to acknowledge me as doing well this year, it hits different and it’s a different kind of feeling. It’s really nice. I’m so happy and so grateful that I managed win this, and hopefully many more.

“Later down the line, I want to be one of them incredible players that people speak about, so to do that I’ve got to do what they did and what they followed after.

“It’s a nice recognition but there’s more to win, and I can’t wait. It’s my turn to show what I’m about, and I’m just looking forward to it.”

The 23-year-old featured 54 times across all competitions, scoring 14 times, as Villa finished sixth in the Premier League, reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League and the semi-finals of the FA Cup. Whether or not he will follow the success of the likes of Palmer and Alexander-Arnold is yet to be known but what is clear is that he is certainly a player to keep an eye on.
