Rice captained England to what was a simple 3-0 win over Wales at Wembley on Thursday night as the Three Lions continued their unbeaten streak under manager Thomas Tuchel.
Arteta and Tuchel are moulding him
The Arsenal midfielder wore the England captain’s armband for just the second time in a move from Tuchel that showed his confidence and trust in the 26-year-old who is having another excellent season in North London.
Speaking after the game, he revealed that both Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Tuchel are helping him in his new role which he explained after the victory.
"I think now I'm more of a box-to-box number eight,
"The manager has adjusted my position at Arsenal a bit this year to give me a bit more freedom to drop deeper but to also get in the box when I can and it's the same with Thomas (Tuchel).
"I have two managers that lay it out really easily with the game plan in what I have to do and where I have to be," he added.
"I'm the one that has to go and execute it.”
Rice is rightly one of the first names on the team sheet for both Arsenal and England as he establishes himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
Rice is chasing success
He also added that his confidence is higher than ever as he chases down success both domestically and internationally.
“When you have confidence in football you feel unstoppable at times and I think I ended the season really strong last year.
"I probably didn't start the first one or two games of this year, of this season, as good as I wanted but I have picked up my form now.
"I feel really strong, I feel fit, I feel really confident in my game. Hopefully the only way is up from here with England and Arsenal."
