With United out of the FA Cup, the players had a free weekend and Fernandes spent it back home.
The former Sporting CP star was in the stands of Estadio Capital do Movel watching hosts Pacos Ferreira draw 0-0 with Torreense.
SportTV reports Fernandes was there to cheer his friend and Pacos player Francisco Ramos.
The pair are former Portugal youth teammates.
At the final whistle, Ramos said of the presence of his good friend: “He is always special. He is someone connected to me and my family.
“In addition, it is always special to have a figure of this from our football watching us.
“He values Portuguese football, he values Pacos de Ferreira and I’m happy to have him close.”
