Slot explained the turnaround, stating: "I see a completely different Federico now compared to much of last season."
The Dutchman says last year's problems stemmed from Chiesa missing the entire pre-season and then having difficulty adapting to the pace of the Premier League.
"It's completely normal, because he missed the entire pre-season and was going straight into the Premier League's rhythm with matches and intensity," added Slot.
"If he is more available, he can influence our results more. But then it's about him staying this healthy."
