Liverpool have formally completed their £60M transfer of Jeremy Jacquet from French side Stade Rennes.

The Reds had agreed a deal to sign the France U21 international back in the January transfer window, but with a clause to allow him to stay at Rennes for the remainder of the 2025/26 season, as per a request from the Ligue 1 club.

However, the second half of the campaign was wrecked by a shoulder injury, but the 20-year-old has passed all relevant medical tests ahead of arriving on Merseyside.

Jacquet missed out on a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup due to that setback, but his move to Anfield comes as a replacement for outgoing Les Blues star, after Ibrahmia Konate agreed terms on a free transfer to Real Madrid.

Liverpool fans are excited by the chance of Jacquet linking up with club captain Virgil van Dijk in a new centre-back partnership under new boss Andoni Iraola after two solid seasons in thee French top tier.

Jacquet will join up with the squad for preseason training later this month and 20-year-old is impressed by what he's seen so far.

"I feel really good, the first impressions are good and I am very happy to start here. I'm very happy. When I see the facilities, I can see myself here. I feel good here and I am very excited to get started," he told LiverpoolFC.com.

Liverpool kick off their preseason tour of the USA against Sunderland on July 25 followed by clashes with Wrexham and Leeds United.
