Hojlund reacted to Man Utd's Benjamin Sesko transfer news in style in the early hours on Thursday as he scored United’s first goal in the 4-1 win over Bournemouth in Chicago which impressed the American fan base who were eager to see their team perform in before the season begins.
The United side were without both big-money summer signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo who have challenged Hojlund for his spot in the side that is looking shaky especially as links to Sesko continue to grow this week.
Two years after he joined United from Atalanta for £72M, many fans will agree that he is a failed signing but the Danish international is adamant that he will fight for his place in the side who will be challenging for a European spot next season.
“I think my plan is very clear and that is for me to STAY at Manchester United”.
“I want to fight for my spot whatever happens.”
Speaking in his press conference, manager Ruben Amorim admitted that as long as he is finding the back of the net then Hojlund will keep his place in the side.
“I’m really happy with Rasmus, but I don’t know what is going to happen until the end of the market. The important thing is that Rasmus is scoring goals. He’s connecting really well with the team. He’s improving.
“Again, I don’t know what is going to happen until the market is closed. We suffered a lot because of the lack of goals last season.”
United face Everton and Fiorentina next in their preseason preparation and it is yet to be seen whether Hojlund will be picked by Amorim for the final few games which may show what his line up will look like in the first Premier League game against Arsenal.
