The Reds spent big this summer to bring in Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez who have given mixed performances so far under manager Arne Slot who is still working out the best way to use their pair who are still adapting to the Premier League.
Hamann thinks Frimpong and Kerkez struggled
It took late goals from Federico Chiesa and Mohamed Salah to secure a 4-2 victory over the Cherries who were helped by a brace from Antoine Semenyo. The two goals conceded and constant defensive mistakes were highlighted by many however including Hamann who ripped into the side.
"I think if you look at the 90 minutes, I think you never felt they were really in control of the game.
"This is something I think where they've been really good last season. It was end-to-end stuff.
"They struggled to create chances over the 90 minutes and also allowed quite a few.
"I think if you don't control games without the ball, it makes it even harder to control it with the ball. I think part of it, or the reason was that defensively, they've been pretty fragile as they've been against Palace.”
Liverpool will struggle without Alexander-Arnold
Former defender Jamie Carragher also hit out at Liverpool's "unbelievable" and "absolutely shocking" defending during the game, which Hamann thinks is down to changing dynamics within the side such as Trent Alexander-Arnold's departure to Real Madrid.
"Kerkez struggled (in) both games so far. Frimpong, for all his power going forward, his pace, he's not a right-back.
"I think this is something they have to address because without Trent (Alexander-Arnold) in the team, I think the dynamics in the team will change."
Both Frimpong and Kerkez kept a clean sheet against the Cherries after they were replaced before in the 60th minute of the game. Manager Arne Slot replaced them with Wataru Endo and Andy Robertson as he figures out how best to help his team perform at their best at the back.
