Haaland warmed up for this Sunday's Manchester derby in style as he scored five of Norway's 11 against Moldova in a World Cup qualifier. Haaland was in unstoppable form in Oslo and he will hope that he can transfer his form to a City side who have been disappointing so far this season.
City have lost to Tottenham and Brighton to leave them a point behind United despite winning their opening game against bottom of the league Wolves. Speaking to Viaplay, Haaland has revealed that City must improve and the United clash is the perfect time to do so.
“We've lost two games in a row, it's not good enough, it's way too bad,' Haaland said. 'We need to figure it out, get back to winning ways. We can't afford to lose games, as there's so many good teams.
“It's perfect to turn things around against United. We need to all be on our best, get our a**es going, get things going, because it's not been good enough so far.
“Losing's not cool, of course. It's annoying. You need to use it to something positive. As motivation to do better the next game, and I expect that we are.
“We need to use the angriness inside us out on the pitch to deliver at our highest level.”
The 25-year-old also became first player to score five goals for his country since 1948 with his exploits for Norway but his fine form does not matter if City do not wake up under manager Pep Guardiola.
City are six points off league leaders Liverpool and a win against United is imperative to keep their title chances alive. Losing is not cool much like Haaland says and if City continue to drop points then their title dreams will be crushed very early in the season.
