The Zimbabwe international has made only two substitute appearances this season.
"I'm at a stage of my career right now where I have got a point to prove," the 22-year-old told the club's website.
"I need to show what I can do and really impact games. The manager, when I spoke to him, was on the same wavelength, and he sold me amazing ideas of how this club wants to go in these next couple of months."
Tykes boss Conor Hourihane also said, "He's a young player with genuine top-level experience and that's a big asset for us.
"His Premier League exposure and ability to play across the front line give us another dimension going into the final stretch of the season."
