Fofana has featured 34 times in all competitions for Chelsea this term during a disastrous campaign that has seen three different managers take charge at Stamford Bridge.
Calum McFarlane is the latest, with the Englishman taking interim charge until the end of the season following Liam Rosenior's dismissal in April.
While a new manager is the priority heading into the summer, BlueCo are set to have a clear-out, and Fofana could potentially exit West London.
That is according to transfer journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who claims the French defender has been offered to Barcelona by his representatives.
As per Sky Sport.ch, Barcelona's key priority is strengthening their defence and they see the 25-year-old as a possible option.
It is claimed that Chelsea are willing to sell Fofana if an offer of at least €30m (£25.8m) is put on the table, with Barca exploring a loan and option to buy agreement.
As it stands, the Premier League giants would prefer to sanction a permanent transfer, although it remains to be seen whether a suitable offer is made.
Fofana has made just 88 appearances for Chelsea since joining from Leicester City in August 2022, with constant injury troubles hampering his development.
