Following their 2-1 loss to City at the weekend, Arsenal’s title hopes are hanging by a thread as Pep Guardiola and his side look to overtake the North London side with a win against Burnley on Wednesday night.
City are unbeaten in each of their previous 19 meetings with Burnley and all signs point towards the side leapfrogging Arsenal and claiming their spot at the top of the table.
Arsenal face Newcastle United this weekend but if City win, they must rely on their rivals dropping points on their hunt for their first Premier League title in over two decades.
Despite this, Wenger spoke at an Abbey Road Studios fund-raiser for ProjectTwinning about how the Gunners may have a stronger chance at going all the way.
“I believe that Arsenal will win the league. I deeply believe. It looks, to me, like common sense.
“I like (Eberechi) Eze, (Martin) Odegaard, (Kai) Havertz and (Noni) Madueke attacking. Manchester City will not make the perfect run-in.”
Burnley are winless in their last 12 top-flight home fixtures, and you have to go back to 2015 for Burnley’s last success over City, with a George Boyd strike sealing a 1-0 victory at Turf Moor.
City are likely to steamroll Burnley, leaving Arsenal helpless if they complete a perfect end to the final stage of the campaign. Wenger still has hope however, as anything can happen in the Premier League.
