Gyokeres has struggled since arriving in North London during the summer window, scoring just 4 goals in 14 Premier League appearances for the Gunners.
The 26-year-old reflected on an "eventful year" that included trophies in Portugal, where he bagged 39 goals in 33 league games for Sporting.
"It has been a year full of events.
“We won the league and the cup with Sporting and it was incredible to be part of history.
"Then, the transfer to Arsenal, being in this environment and playing here is fantastic. I am very proud and happy with the award. I will take many positive things with me from this year," he concluded.
Isak has not quite worked out for Liverpool, and Gyokeres has not quite worked out for Arsenal. Both of the Swedish strikers have had seasons to forget so far as goals evade them week in week out.
Against Wolves earlier this month, Gyokeres touched the ball just 15 times against and managed only one shot, which flew wide. The Gunners have seen a six-point cushion at the top cut to just two following a lackluster run of league form, and will need Gyokeres to step up if they are to go all the way.
