As Alexander Isak miss out through injury, Sweden had to beat Ukraine in the playoff semi-final to keep their World Cup hopes alive under manager Graham Potter.
It took Gyokeres just six minutes to open the scoring before he added a second early in the second-half. His third came from the spot as he slid the ball past the goalkeeper.
The Arsenal star has now scored 19 times for club and country this campaign and was asked if the night could have gone any better for him.
“Today, no. But it could be even better (against Poland) on Tuesday.
“It means a lot. Of course, it was an extremely important match for us and that we manage to win this match is very important.”
Sweden will have the home advantage when they play Poland next week for a place in the World Cup.
The side will be without Isak once more but Gyokeres could step up for the side once more as Sweden’s World Cup dream stays alive ahead of Tuesday’s clash.
Gyokeres has scored 16 goals in all competitions for Arsenal so far this term and Mikel Arteta will be delighted to see his striker bagging goals during the international break before they face Southampton in the FA Cup Quarter Final once club football returns.
