Wissa, who flew home early from Brentford's pre-season training camp and was left out of the squad for Sunday's 3-1 loss at Nottingham Forest, wants to join Newcastle who had a £40M bid rejected for the DR Congo international earlier this week.
Having lost star forward Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United, The Bees are reluctant to sell Wissa before they have found a replacement, which will have to come soon before the transfer window shuts in just over a week’s time.
Andrews spoke on the star earlier this week as the transfer saga continues and commented that Wissa should not be leaving as a lot of his success is down to him when he was the set piece coach before Thomas Frank left to join Tottenham.
"I have got a good relationship with Wiss. I worked really hard with him last year to try and find goals.
“Seven of his 19 goals last year came from set-pieces. He owes me really, so he shouldn't be going anywhere, to be blunt!"
Mbeumo and Wissa combined for a staggering 39 Premier League goals last term and it’s clear that Andrews does not want to lose both in the matter of months in what would be a devastating blow. Wissa believes that, 12 months ago, the club agreed he could move on this summer, and he reportedly expects them to honour that promise that could be fulfilled over the next week.
Earlier today, Andrews was secretive as to whether Wissa would feature for the side this weekend as Brentford prepare to face Aston Villa in their second game of the season after a brutal loss to Nottingham Forest.
"He’s been training with the team. I’ll make a decision on the squad tomorrow, but he’s been part of the group this week. He’s a Brentford player right now. My stance around Yoane all along is that I don’t want him to leave; that hasn’t changed"
