Robert Lewandowski is heading closer to leaving Barcelona as talks over a new contract have broken down.

Lewandowski sees his current deal at the Camp Nou expire next month, and the Poland international appears to be assessing his next steps.

The 37-year-old, who has scored 18 goals in all competitions this term, has interest from the Saudi Pro League, the MLS, and some Italian clubs.

Porto have also shown admiration towards Lewandowski, although they've placed nothing concrete on the table, and his wages could prove to be a stumbling block.

Fabrizio Romano, meanwhile, believes that his exit from Barcelona is "very close" and talks over a new contract have been put on "stand-by".

Without a fresh proposal, Lewandowksi will depart as a free agent, but it remains to be seen where his next destination lies.

Clubs in the MLS and Saudi Arabia are arguably best placed to meet his wage demands, though after striking four times in the Champions League this term, he may feel like he can still compete at the highest level in Europe.
