According to reports in Italy, Lewandowski has demanded an €8m-a-year salary from Juventus and Milan as the Polish international decides where to go once his contract at Barcelona expires this summer.
The 37-year-old is out of contract in July, and although he can leave on a free, his salary is said to be a huge hurdle for interested clubs as he refuses to budge on his demands.
Where will Lewandowski end up?
Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer Sporting Director Gregg Broughton is said to be in talks with the striker, offering more than any European side as Lewandowski enters his final years as a player.
Speaking to Polish television channel Eleven Sports, the veteran revealed that he would be open to dropping down a division which may include the MLS.
“I don't know what I'm going to do yet.
“There could be an option in a lower-level league. I’m almost 38, but I feel good physically, so I’m considering it.
“I will listen to a few more offers and then make a decision.”
There have been consistent links from Serie A to Lewandowski over recent months but it looks like Chicago lead the race to sign the striker who has 13 goals and 2 assists in 28 La Liga appearances this season.
His teammate Wojciech Szczęsny joked this week that Lewandowski should retire before joining an Italian side.
“If I had to give him advice from my experience, I would tell him to retire, because that’s when the best offers come in.”
