Spain international Borja Iglesias could be a shock summer transfer target for Liga MX team Club America after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Iglesias has been an unused substitute so far for Spain during the tournament after being boldly named in Luis de la Fuente's panel after a brilliant 2025/26 campaign in front of goal for Celta Vigo.

The 33-year-old made a permanent move to Galicia last summer after scoring 11 LaLiga goals there during a loan spell from Real Betis in 2024/25.

The veteran striker kept up that ruthless momentum going into the 2025/26 season, with 14 top-flight goals scored, as Celta eventually sealed UEFA Europa League qualification at the Estadio Balaidos.

Despite being under contract at Celta until 2027, with the option for a 12-month extension, Iglesias is being firmly targeted as part of Club America's desire to secure a big-name European-based star in 2026.

As per reports from ESPN, via Diario AS, contact has already been made to Iglesias' representatives and Celta over a possible deal, with Club America willing to offer around €3-4M to secure his services.

Celta's European qualification will offer a much-needed financial boost to the club, but they are expected to make at least one sale in the months ahead to meet LaLiga's updated fiscal requirements, with Aston Villa rumoured to be tracking midfielder Ilaix Moriba.
