Barca chiefs have spoken openly of their admiration for Alvarez, though Atletico president Cerezo has stated on multiple occasions that their striker is not for sale.
Atlético defeated Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal in midweek and after the match, Gaspart spoke with Cerezo about Álvarez.
"We didn't talk about the referee. The only thing I did was speak to them in English so I can get them used to it for when I talk to their owners," Gaspart told 'Solo para cules', where he asked directly about Alvarez.
"I have an idea of what I'm going to negotiate, and as for cash... no more than 40 or 50 million euros , and the rest with a Barça player. 100 million euros outright? He's not going to get it, over my dead body. I'm not going to allow it because he's not a 100 million euro player.
"Then I had to tell the president and friend Cerezo: 'Well, you have enjoyed a player who will be ours.'"
