Alvarez’s future at Atletico Madrid has been a major point of contention for the past few months, with Barcelona keen on signing him as their Robert Lewandowski successor.
Real Madrid have also been linked, making a €150 million offer as part of Florentino Perez’s election campaign, although the legitimacy has been questioned.
The 26-year-old himself has even said that he would like to leave the club, but that is looking increasingly unlikely.
Per Fabrizio Romano, Cerezo has once again insisted that Alvarez will not be leaving the club any time soon.
“Joan Laporta is a good friend and he already knows where Julián Alvarez is going to play next season,” he said.
“Let me insist: Julián is our player and will be our player next season”.
