There is now a sense that European qualification is on the cards as the Red Devils push into the top 4 under Carrick’s leadership.

Carrick is very involved

Speaking this week, Maguire has revealed that the former midfielder is getting stuck into training which may be helping the side gather confidence from their new manager who many think will stay beyond the summer.

"He still does demos in passing drills, and he still bangs it through the lines like he’s still got it.

“He was doing the demos the other day, and I think he did two passes. Everyone did about 300. I think his two were the best I’ve seen out of them all!"

"But no, he’s still got it. And he’s really hands-on in training."

Maguire also commented on Steve Holland who arrived after several years alongside former England manager Gareth Southgate. The defender is happy to see Carrick and Holland making a real change amongst the squad who needed a jumpstart.

"Also, you’ve got Steve as well there," Maguire explained. "When I was working with Steve at England, he was really hands-on in terms of taking most of the training sessions. So you’ve got two coaches there who like to get involved and I think it’s really good."
