Nwaneri is reportedly with the squad in Milan for Arsenal’s UEFA Champions League match with Inter Milan at the San Siro but the teenager is unlikely to feature under manager Mikel Arteta who is keen to allow him consistent game time elsewhere.
The 18-year-old has started just four games under Arteta this season and will not be handed the minutes on the pitch to aid his development under the Spaniard for the rest of the season.
This has led to him looking across the channel to Ligue 1 where journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that he is eager to join Marseille.
“Ethan Nwaneri has accepted to join Olympique Marseille! Arsenal also believe it’s the best solution on loan.
“Arteta also spoke with Roberto de Zerbi and OM seen as ideal solution.
“Straight loan deal at final stages, no buy option clause — expected to be agreed soon.”
Arteta was asked just under three weeks ago for his thoughts on the potential of Nwaneri leaving on loan and suggested that all players in the squad are crucial to their succees.
“That every player is important, every player has a role, that role can change throughout the season for different reasons, and everybody has to be ready to play. That’s it."
talkSPORT also report that Premier League rivals West Ham were among other clubs who were interested in signing him on loan but Arsenal will have been keen to avoid him playing the Gunners later this season.
