Inter Milan right back Denzel Dumfries is closing his chapter in Italy as he prepares to join Real Madrid.

Los Blancos activated the €20 million release clause in his contract last week, with Jose Mourinho set to land one of Europe's best attacking wing-backs.

Dumfries has produced incredible output down the right flank during his five-year association with Inter, including 55 goal involvements in 207 appearances.

The 30-year-old is now ready to rival Trent Alexander-Arnold for a spot in Real's starting lineup next term after representing the Netherlands at the 2026 World Cup.

The Dutch dynamo's departure will leave a huge void at Inter Milan, although sporting director Piero Ausilio is already confident of finding a "younger" replacement.

"We will replace Denzel Dumfries with a younger right back, a very good player," Ausilio said.

“Hakimi, Cancelo, Dumfries. These are the last RWBs we had, so be positive."

Ausilio is right to point out that Inter have homed some of the best wing-backs in modern-day football, none more so than two-time Champions League winner Achraf Hakimi.

So, Inter supporters should be confident that another gem is unearthed in the transfer window as they wave goodbye to Dumfries.
