It has been reported the deal will not be signed this week however, as the Portuguese club will only allow Silva to exit later on in the transfer window.
It comes after Marco Senesi left the club this summer as a free agent to sign for Tottenham Hotspur, and boss Marco Rose is looking to bring in some defensive reinforcements ahead of the new campaign.
The defender made 25 appearances for Benfica during the 2025/26 season, scoring once.
