Fernandez, 25, has been heavily linked with a move away, but Real Madrid recently released a statement saying that they will not move to sign him this summer.
According to journalist Si Phillips, Alonso’s side will move to sign Bournemouth’s Alex Scott regardless of what happens with Fernandez.
It’s been reported that Bournemouth value Scott at around £80 million, with Man United also keen on signing the midfielder.
