According to the BBC, Villa have stepped up their interest in the 22-year-old Ecuador international after failing to reach an agreement with Southampton for Taylor Harwood-Bellis.
The Belgium outfit is reportedly demanding at least £40m for Ordonez, who has made 124 appearances for the Belgian side since joining in 2022.
Villa had an £18m bid for Harwood-Bellis rejected, with a significant difference in valuation remaining between the clubs.
The move could still be revived, but Unai Emery’s side have turned their attention to other targets.
Villa are rebuilding after a 4-0 defeat by Brighton, while several key players, including Ezri Konsa, Morgan Rogers and Youri Tielemans, have departed.
