The Three Lions sitting atop of Group K with 15 points thanks to five wins from five matches after a perfect start under manager Thomas Tuchel, who had to replace Watkins this week after he picked up a knock against Wales.
A statement from the Football Association confirmed that he will not feature in their World Cup qualifier against Latvia on Tuesday night which has opened the door for Tottenham youngster Scarlett.
England confirmed the news on social media as they welcomed the 21-year-old into training ahead of Tuesday’s clash, which could confirm England’s spot in next year’s World Cup.
"Good to have you with us, @DScarlett09. #YoungLions forward Dane Scarlett joins the #ThreeLions for this morning's session at @SpursOfficial.”
Captain Harry Kane is expected to return, however, after missing the clash against Wales. Scarlett has made 22 appearances for Tottenham so far, with a goal and three assists to his name, and could replace Kane if handed an opportunity by Tuchel.
Thomas Tuchel’s side will qualify for the 2026 World Cup if they win in the Latvian capital and Kane, who is England’s top scorer won’t slow down his goal scoring spree as he hopes to take his country to another international tournament.
