Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson has spoken on the club's transfer plans ahead of the new campaign.

Parkinson has guided the club from the National League to the Championship and is the division's longest-serving manager in what is an incredible feat.

Wrexham released six senior players after their contracts expired last month as well as club legends Paul Mullin and Tom O’Connor in what is a huge shift at the club who are seeking Premier League promotion.

Parkinson calls for patience

To achieve such a goal, Parkinson will have to make serious changes at the club who are yet to make a fresh signing as their pre-season kicks off this month. Speaking on the lack of changes, Parkinson has asked for patience as it is still early in the summer transfer window.

"As ever it's patience, making sure we can hold our nerve to get the right players in who we feel can make a difference.

"We've got to operate within the rules and we're working on ways to do that to give us the best squad going forward.

"But equally we've got a good group of players in the building. We've got to remember that we've got a squad which came close last year.

"We know, as everybody's saying, the division is going to be harder. You look at the teams that have come down and the teams which are going to improve in the division.

"We understand that and we're not kind of resting on our laurels. We'll naturally just evolve from last year. We know we've got to work on the squad, and we will do, but it's going to take a bit of time."

Parkinson still has 31 senior players on the books despite huge changes and the club may have to sell to buy as they build a side worthy or promotion alongside clubs who have dropped down including Wolves, Burnley and West Ham
