Ambulance services in the UK are preparing for a surge in 999 heat-related emergency call outs around England's World Cup clash with Ghana.

The Three Lions face the Black Stars at 9pm UK time today in their second Group L game at the tournament, but a summer heatwave across England is causing concerns over public health.

With temperatures over 30°C before kickoff, South East Coast Ambulance Service has confirmed it's expecting a repeat of the 30% case spike they experienced during hot weather in May as per BBC News.

The Met Office has also issued a red extreme heat warning, covering parts of the Midlands, south-east Wales and southern England, with temperatures set to hit 40°C (104F) later this week.

That could also impact fans watching England's third and final group game against Panama on Saturday June 27tth, which is scheduled for a 10pm start back in the UK, as Thomas Tuchel's team wrap up Group L in New Jersey.

On the ground in the USA, there are no current weather concerns over England's fixtures, after France's 3-0 win over Iraq in Philadelphia was delayed mid-game by 131 minutes after heavy rain and lightning strikes in the local area.
