The U.S. State Department has denied visas for Iran’s football delegation, preventing them from attending the 2026 World Cup draw in Washington, D.C.

The news follows an executive order issued earlier this year by U.S. President Donald Trump, which restricted travel from 12 countries, including Iran.

The Tehran Times reports that the U.S. government has denied visas to Iran Football Federation President Mehdi Taj, coach Amir Ghalenoei, and seven other officials.

It now looks like they will miss the group draw, which is set to be held at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. on December 5th.

Iran, whose federation is taking the matter to FIFA, secured World Cup qualification in March following a 2-2 draw with Uzbekistan.
