Portugal are chasing their first win at the 2026 FIFA World Cup as Roberto Martinez's team take on Uzbekistan in Houston.

Martinez's team were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by DR Congo in their Group K opener with captain Cristiano Ronaldo coming into sharp focus at full-time.

Ronaldo failed to register a shot on target at the NRG Stadium as Martinez threw on a host of late substitutes to try and lay on a chance for the 41-year-old in closing stages.

A blank from his captain has raised fresh questions over the decision to keep Ronaldo in the starting XI - but there will be no change of stance from the manager - as he looks to drive Portugal on into the knockout stages.

The draw against DR Congo means Portugal are playing catch up in Group K with Colombia leading the way after a superb 3-1 win over Uzbekistan

Manchester City star Ruben Dias is on course to return to the Portugal defence after staying on the bench against DR Congo and Francisco Conceicao could be drafted in one the right-side of attack.

The Juventus winger replaced Bernardo Silva at half-time last time out and laid on two close-range chances which Ronaldo fired off-target. His pace and directness out wide could be the key to getting Ronaldo off the mark in the USA alongside Pedro Neto and Bruno Fernandes.
