Bellingham achieved this feat at the age of 22 years and 359 days, beating Rooney who reached his half-century at 23 years and 159 days.
He earned his 50th cap in England’s World Cup Group L game against Ghana, their second of the tournament.
Bellingham has been a key player for England since breaking into the first team, scoring seven goals in his 50 games, including his strike in the 4-2 win over Croatia in their opener.
