England's No.1 Jordan Pickford has set a new World Cup benchmark as the Three Lions edged out a 2-1 extra time win over Norway in Miami on July 11.

Pickford has been ever-present for Thomas Tuchel's team, starting all six games so far in North America, as part of his third World Cup for England.

The Everton goal keeper was beaten by Andreas Schjelderup's wonder strike, as Norway took a bold lead in Miami Gardens, before a double from Jude Bellingham secured England's passage and a semi-final date with Argentina.

The Norway clash was Pickford's 18th at a World Cup and that takes him above Peter Shilton (17) as the England player with the most appearances on the biggest international stage.

Shilton had held the record since Italia '90, where England were knocked in the semi-finals by Germany, and Harry Kane has now matched his 17 with John Stones on 16 and Marcus Rashford on 15.

Jordan Henderson remains the only England player to feature at four World Cups, but the veteran midfielder will play no further part in the 2026 tournament, after suffering a broken wrist in the post-Mexico win celebrations.

Kane is now on 14 World Cup goals, as England's leader, with Bellingham on seven, after bagging an eye-catching six this summer.
