Thomas Tuchel's side dug deep to edge out a 3-2 last 16 win over Mexico in the Estadio Azteca despite being forced to play the final stages with 10 men after Jarell Quansah's red card.
Norway sealed a bold 2-1 victory over Brazil in their parallel clash, as Erling Haaland scored twice late on to eliminate Carlo Ancelotti's Samba Boys, and book a first-ever World Cup quarter final spot for the Scandinavians.
That double brought Haaland up to seven goals in the tournament and the Manchester City hitman is right in the frame to potentially win the Golden Boot on his World Cup debut
However, he's not the only major threat in Norway's ranks, with Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard already popping up with three assists so far.
The Norway skipper set up six Premier League goals last season, as Mikel Arteta's team went on to clinch the Premier League title, and despite not being at his top level, the former Real Sociedad playmaker is crucial for club and country.
With so much focus on Haaland, former England captain John Terry has revealed his concern over Odegaard going under the radar, despite his familiarity to most of Tuchel's players.
"Norway are a good side. I think they’re well drilled. I think everything that goes well through the team goes through Martin Odegaard.
"If England stop him and Erling Haaland then we have a big, big chance to make the semis."
England have faced Norway 12 times on the international stage with seven wins, three draws and two defeats along the way. However, Norway's two victories both came in the four competitive games played between the two sides.
