England captain Harry Kane has opened up on whether the 2026 World Cup will be last following their 2-1 semi-final defeat to Argentina.

The 32-year-old leaves the World Cup as England’s joint top scorer, alongside Jude Bellingham, with six goals.

Against Argentina, though, Kane didn’t quite have the desired impact, failing to have a single touch in the opposition penalty box.

England took the lead through a 55th minute Anthony Gordon goal, but following some baffling decisions from Thomas Tuchel, allowed Lionel Messi and co to control the game afterwards.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Kane was unsure about whether this would be his last World Cup.

“It's still too early to say. I take it year by year and see how I feel. I love playing for England," he said.

“But of course, four years is a long time. Then again, you can see someone like Messi still performing at the highest level even at an older age. I honestly don't know.”
