Olise was cautioned following a heated altercation with Paraguay midfielder Matias Galarza in the latter stages of the game.

According to The Athletic, the French Football Federation (FFF) have approached world football’s governing body to rectify what they perceive as a clear officiating error.

The appeal comes at a time of immense scrutiny for FIFA and President Gianni Infantino, who made the unprecedented decision to ‘suspend’ Folarin Balogun’s red card for USMNT’s game against Belgium.

US President Donald Trump admitted to his interference by revealed that he had called Infantino and requested a ‘review’.

Infantino, of course, denies that his conversation with Trump had any impact on the ultimate decision.
