Mbappe is currently in the race for the 2026 tournament's Golden Boot alongside Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, and Messi as he trails the Argentina star with 7 goals.
The Madrid striker will be aiming to add more goals to his tally on Thursday night when France face off against Morocco for a place in the Semi Final.
France have now won 11 of their last 12 competitive matches and manager Didier Deschamps has gotten the best out of Mbappe over the past year, especially at this summer’s World Cup.
This is despite his struggles at Madrid which saw him drop out of the team, with fans calling for him to leave the club this summer.
Speaking with Stake, Evra believes that Mbappe is evolving and that him being selfless has led to success for France.
“Listen, when you have Kylian Mbappe, of course you play to his strengths. That is normal. You don't have that kind of weapon and pretend he is just another player.
“I've been tough on Kylian before, but never because of his talent. It's because I want him to become even more complete, more responsible for the whole team, not just for the moments when he scores.
“What I like in this World Cup is that he's making better decisions. He's involving people more. France are stronger when Mbappe is at his best, but let's be clear: you don't win a World Cup with one player. Everyone still has to do their job.
“If he finishes with five goals and France lift the trophy, I promise you he'll take that every day over winning the Golden Boot and going home early.”
Now on 19 World Cup goals, Mbappe will star once more against Morocco where he could overtake Messi in the goalscoring charts.
