Following the death of his mother, the French Football Federation (FFF) confirmed that Deschamps would miss the final group game against Norway in which his side won 4-1.
France has already qualified for the knockout stages after beating Senegal and Iraq in their opening two games but made sure they finished top of Group I with what was a simple win.
Now, Les Bleus clash with Sweden in what will be an emotional return for Deschamps this week as he mourns the death of his mother.
"How am I? I'm doing okay. Obviously I had complicated days where I was devastated. But for my own personal well-being and for the good of the France team, I had to leave. Afterwards, they did what was necessary."
"Since I've been back, I've got back into this preparation for this match against Sweden. It’s good to have my head occupied."
Deschamps has already confirmed that he intends to step down after the end of the tournament, and it remains to be seen whether he can lead his side to another international trophy this summer.
The Swedes must avoid a fifth defeat in six against France in what is a very tough game for them on paper as Deschamps makes his return.
