Brazil boss Carlo Ancelotti has backed his decision to not hand Endrick a place in his starting line up.

The 19-year-old striker did not feature in Brazil’s opening 1-1 draw with Morocco, a decision that drew criticism from supporters as the nation’s attack remained toothless.

Brazil’s starting front line, which featured Lucas Paqueta, Igor Thiago, and Raphinha, were without creativity and the firepower needed to secure a vital 3 points as they seek to bounce back against Haiti on Saturday.

Despite the criticism, Ancelotti confirmed that Endrick is unlikely to start against Haiti in Friday's Group C clash in Philadelphia as he states that the teenager must remain patient and flexible in the side.

"I will put Endrick in at the right time. We have to wait a little. He will be important," said the Italian during a press conference. "Matheus Cunha is more of a team player, he has more characteristics of an attacking midfielder. Igor Thiago has other qualities.

“He is a strong player in duels and very aggressive in recovering the ball. Endrick is neither one nor the other. He is something different, for me personally. He is an extraordinary talent.

"Brazil will take advantage of his qualities in this and the next World Cup," Ancelotti admitted. "He is patient, not in a hurry, and very mature for his age. That's a very important aspect. Having family nearby is also important for a young player."

Ancelotti coached Endrick in the player's first season at Real Madrid before he left to join Lyon on loan. The youngster grabbed five goals and seven assists in 16 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit but still can’t find a place in the Brazil side despite their dire performances.
