An early Ange-Yoan Bonny goal proved the winner for Inter, who now sit second on the Serie A table.
Bergomi reflected this morning: "Inter are back to being a team.
"The thing I liked most," he added after the victory over Roma, "was the final embrace between (Cristian) Chivu and (Nicolo) Barella: Inter needed to be re-motivated to erase the end of last season, and when they're physically fit, this team is strong."
However, Bergomi also warned: "But you have to maintain this for 60 games, if you still manage to get there. If they had conceded the equalizer, what would we have said? That they still slump at the end.
"The team is still the same, but the real change between last year and this year is the defensive line, which is trying to stay higher."
