Cristiano Ronaldo’s former chef, Giorgio Barone has opened up on the Al-Nassr's diet as he stays at his peak.

At 41 years old, Ronaldo is closing in on 1000 career goals after scoring his 969th in Al-Nassr’s win last weekend.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star is a marvel of athleticism and is in peak shape despite being at an age where top players are long since retired.

Speaking to Covers.com, Barone has revealed how the legendary forward stays at his best through a strict diet which he is fully committed to.

“Everything was organic and simple. Vegetables, chicken, rice, not white rice though. Either black rice or red rice because they contain less starch than normal, and avocado and red fruits.

“He doesn’t eat junk food. Never. Not even on holiday. No sugar. Not even in coffee. Sugar is a poison for our body.

“His discipline is truly unique. I have worked with many players, even World Cup winners like Lucas Hernandez who also won the Champions League. Theo Hernandez too and many others. They eat well, but sometimes they have something a bit frivolous. They don't have the discipline that Cristiano does.

“With Cristiano, I didn't need a nutritionist. He knew what to do. Sometimes with other players I spoke to the team chefs to get an idea of what they liked.”

Ronaldo continues to shine at Al-Nassr and has shown no signs of letting up as reports suggest that he could be playing at 50 years old as long as he can avoid injuries and stick with a diet that is clearly working.
