Despite reports claiming that Everton were willing to pay Josh Brownhill £100,000 per week to play for Moyes’ side this season, the former Burnley star has decided that the Saudi Pro League is the next stop in his career.
The midfielder left at the end of the campaign after five years at Turf Moor, making 211 appearances in total and scoring 32 goals overall and spoke on the move which he thinks will bring him a lot of goals.
"I feel really honoured to join Al-Shabab," Brownhill said.
"The way the manager plays - formation, system and the vision that they see - is what really attracted me.
"I'm hoping to score a lot of goals and we'll be aiming to win some trophies this season."
The 29-year-old enjoyed a sensational season in the Championship for Burnley, scoring 18 goals as the Clarets were promoted. He opened up more on his decision to make the move and how the atmosphere around the side made an impact.
"The atmosphere has been amazing since I’ve been here. From all the members of staff, the kit man, everybody, the fans as well, it’s been really great. I just can’t wait to get started and show people what I can do.”
Brownhill will be joining up with Atletico Madrid hero Yannick Carrasco, as well as former Southampton and Watford ace Wesley Hoedt as they attempt to make a title charge.
