Manchester United youngster JJ Gabriel can finally feature for the club next season under manager Michael Carrick.

It is highly likely that the 15 year old will be part of the senior squad's pre-season tour this summer as they face the likes of United to face the likes of Wrexham, Rosenborg, Atletico de Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Leeds United

Gabriel has scooped the Premier League Under-18 player of the year award last month after an outstanding campaign, which saw him score 21 goals for United’s academy side.

Now, as the Premier League slowly approaches, rules state that all eligible players must have celebrated their 15th birthday on or before August 31 of any playing season.

This means regulations prevented him from appearing in the competition this season precisely because of his age as the teenager became stuck at a lower level than many think he is suited to.

Gabriel only turned 15 in October 2025 and will of course turn 16 in 4 months time when the 2026/27 season commences as Carrick seeks to hand him his debut with the side who have been desperate to see him pull on the shirt.

Gabriel could make history

Former Red Devils goalkeeper Gaskell was just 16 years and 19 days old when he made his debut in the 1956 FA Charity Shield, Gabriel is set to beat this record by some distance.

Hull City (A),  Ipswich Town (H),  Everton (A), Manchester City (H), Fulham (A), Tottenham (H),  Leeds United (A) and Bournemouth (H) all hand Gabriel chances to beat Gaskell’s record.

The top 5 youngest Premier League appearance makers include:

Ethan Nwaneri (Arsenal) – 15 years, 181 days old

Max Dowman (Arsenal) – 15 years, 235 days old

Jeremy Monga (Leicester City) – 15 years, 271 days old

Harvey Elliott (Fulham) – 16 years, 30 days old

Matthew Briggs (Fulham) – 16 years, 68 days old
