The Englishman felt the Hammers were unfortunate not to take something from the game and believed his side were hard done by after a major moment went against them.
“Because we are on the receiving end of it, we feel hard done by. Football is a sport that brings big moments. We thought we had our big moment,” Bowen told Premier League website.
“We’ve lost the game. In a game we knew we had to be good in our shape. We knew we’d have a few opportunities and we had to defend well.”
Bowen insisted the defeat must not define the team’s season, with West Ham still fighting to avoid relegation heading into the final games of the campaign.
“They got the goal but we kept in there. We were still in the game but regardless of the decision we lost the game and it is a point dropped.
“That is disappointing but there are two games left. It is do or die. We went toe to toe with a side that is going for the title and we have to keep going like that. This defeat can’t be it. We keep going.”
