About to kickoff his third season with Spurs, Vicario recognises he's now one of the dressing room's senior players.
Ahead of tonight's Super Cup clash with PSG in Udine, Vicario was asked about the void left by Son's departure.
The Italy international said, "For my team-mates, I'm one of the oldest players in the dressing room so now is the moment to step up and take responsibility.
"I see a group of lads that are really ready to fight and commit all together, so I don’t want to give them any advice, just to have a good mindset to do everything we can do to achieve. We need to start from tomorrow night. Together, I think we can do great things."
Asked if new manager Thomas Frank wants something different from his goalkeeper compared with predecessor Ange Postecoglou, Vicario also said: "Yes, something has changed. I need to be ready to read the situation that is presented in front of me.
"Sometimes it's build up and short, sometimes it's longer. It's a different approach than what I was used to over the last two season, but what is important is that it is helpful for the team to achieve good results."
