Liverpool’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Newcastle United at St James' Park left a lot to be desired from Andoni Iraola’s side who looked far from their best on Sunday afternoon.
Alexander Isak's return to St James' Park did not go to plan whilst the likes of Florian Wirtz and Ryan Gravenberchfailed to control both in attack and in defence.
Iraola may be content with the outcome, given his side trailed twice at a relentless St James' Park, but a draw isn’t good enough for a title chasing side.
Van Dijk, asked about his team’s performance, revealed that he has faith in the system which pay start to pay off against Nottingham Forest next weekend at Anfield.
"I don't think it is a worry. It is something we definitely have to improve, but it is not a worry. That's the only thing I can say about it.
"I think it is absolutely normal in any type of profession or work that if you come in new, and you have new plans and ideas that it takes a bit of time.
"It is down to us to do it as soon as we can. We want to improve. We want to win. We want to do better. That is what we are going to try and do from tomorrow."
He finished with: "Hopefully next week it will be very close to what (Iraola) wants us to do. Like I say, we work on it every day. We do long hours on the training ground and that will only benefit all of us, including our loyal and trusted supporters."
If Liverpool are to challenge for the title, they must improve. 3 points against Forest are imperative or their season may be over before it has started.
